Cultivate independence and responsibility

About the school photos Strip

“I love that my children have learned how to self-initiate. I love that they are learning how to respect themselves, and thus respect others. I love that Montessori understood that learning is a true process, based on solid principles of child (physical and mental) development.” SCM Parent

In 2002, we completed our Winston Campus, which is home to our longstanding Young Children's Community and Junior High programs. In 2005, we purchased property adjacent to the Main Campus, adding more classroom and playground space. We are surrounded by lovely gardens and are within easy walking distance to awe-inspiring beaches and redwood forests.

What has remained constant and has guided Santa Cruz Montessori over the years is a deep and abiding respect for each child and confidence in the Montessori philosophy and method to nurture children’s innate love of learning. We strive to provide an environment that supports each child’s full development and prepares all our children to become positive, contributing members of our society.
