Spanish Guide

Emily was born near La Selva Beach on a small organic farm. During a gap year in Latin America, she found her love for education teaching the children of the farm workers on a small rose plantation in Ecuador. She completed her teaching credential while majoring in International Studies at Vassar College in New York. A Masters in Bilingual Education took her to Murcia, Spain for 3 years. She moved back to California in search of environmental/outdoor education, working for 2 years in the Santa Cruz mountains. The philosophy, community, and alternative opportunities involved in Montessori Education brought her to SCMS, where she's been able to dive deeper into this life changing pedagogy by completing her Adolescent Montessori Diploma summer of 2024. She loves watching students take ownership of their learning, live in true community with one another, and the empowerment and possibility involved in beginning to speak another language.
