Liv was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa for half of her childhood, moving to the U.S. at age 9. She holds a bachelor's degree from UC Santa Cruz in Environmental studies with a concentration in Agriculture & Ecology. Ever since Liv was little, her favorite game to play with her younger siblings was school, where she taught her siblings algebra, inequalities, spelling, and various activities that exceeded their typical learning age range. After working in the environmental science field for some time, she transitioned to work as a 1:1 aide at Midtown Montessori while achieving her Early Childhood Education Certification. Liv finds the development of children in a social, emotional, and academic setting a true gift to be a part of our responsibilities as adults. She finds the Montessori philosophy to be at the core of her inspiration for teaching, and she believes to learn as much from her students as she is a teacher to them. Outside of school, Liv enjoys spending her time gardening, studying herbal medicine, and baking.
